Book Swap AND Sit, Stay, Read!
(Books and dogs . . .it does not get much better than this.)
Thursday, June 8 - 6-7 p.m.
What is a Book Swap?
A Book Swap is an opportunity for students to turn in books and get new books for summer reading.
How does a Book Swap work?
Students will turn in their gently used books with their NAME, GRADE and ROOM NUMBER neatly printed on the inside cover.. The books will go in collection boxes in the front and rear lobbies at GWES. Yes, we will take gently used comic books and Spanish materials. All books need to be in the boxes by Friday, June 2.
What happens after books are collected?
A team of awesome GWES students will help Mrs. Witry sort the books by grade level and record donations. When they are done, students will earn Book Bucks to spend at the Book Swap.
How much credit does my student earn for donating books?
Students will earn $1.00 for each donated hardcover book and .50 for each magazine or paperback. No real money is exchanged! All credit is in the form of Book Bucks. If your student has lots of Book Bucks, they can share with friends.
What if my student has no books that they want to donate? Can they earn Book Bucks? Absolutely! Our teachers will have Book Bucks to share with students who are helpful, working hard and doing great things for GWES.
What if my student donates books that are for grown ups?
No worries . . . the student earns the credit and the books will go on our grown up table or be donated to a hospital or shelter.
When is the Book Swap?
The Book Swap is on Thursday, June 8 from 6 -7 p.m. in the GWES Gym. Students will bring their Book Bucks to the Swap and select gently used books to keep!
What about the dogs????
While you are shopping at the Book Swap, parents and students can also stop in and read with the dogs. Sit Stay Read is an amazing group of people who bring their dogs so students can read with them. We are so happy to welcome them back to GWES!
(Please note that a parent or guardian must be with the student to sign a consent form.)
