MRS. WITRY'S LIBRARY PAGES

Long Way Down

Long Way Down/Library
Assignment #2

Last week you did a fabulous job reading and interpreting the first section of the novel.
Today you are going to:  learn how to use a new app on the ipad, start to create your own book about Long Way Down and read more of this awesome book!
  1. Book Creator - start by reading all of the tutorial on this app
  2. Create a cover on Book Creator for your Long Way Down journal. It must include: a photo of you, your name grade and homeroom number.
  3. The first interior page of your book is a title page that should include the title and author of the book. Make it decorative. You may add pictures and decorative text.
  4. Finally, label your next page with the title of the poem that you selected for last week’s assignment. Type in your two paragraphs from last week.
  5. When you are done, place your ipad on the cart and pick up a copy of Long Way Down. Read pages 48-70

Assignment #3:  Read pages 47-70 in Long Way Down. When students are done reading, they should create a Pic Collage that uses words and images to show their reactions to the novel so far.
The collage must contain:

  • Pictures of Will, Sean and Mother
  • At least four additional images
  • At least five words that show your reaction to the novel
(these may not be character names although you may include those)
When you are done with your masterpiece, please import it into your Long Way Down Journal on Book Creator.
